Home Wind Turbines Archives

Our experiment is to convert heat energy obtained by burning bio mass to electric energy. In real life this is done by spinning steam turbines which induces an electric current by electromagnetism. In a high school lab there is no steam turbine, so are there any alternatives I can take?

Is my three year old colorblind?

My 3 year old daughter can count past 20, she can recite the alphabet, she recognizes faces, people, characters, places. She can successfully play the "match" games; she can complete just about any puzzle we give her. She also can read certain 2 and 3 letter words, remember nursery rhymes but when it comes to colors, she can’t tell me ANY of them; she continuously says the wrong color. (Once in awhile she will get a color correct but thinking back now I believe it is a lucky guess.) We show her crayons, tell her the colors several times, sometimes mixing it up not allowing her to remember them in order but also we’re not wanting to confuse her. Our goal here is to get her to recognize colors, any color now but she can’t seem to get it. We have been working on this for a few months, not every day but several times a week. We were reading a Bob the Builder book tonight, she was able to read a few words from it (i.e. and, the, yes, we) then when finished reading the book we started going over the names of the tractors (she named them all correctly). I then started going over colors ("Bob’s hat is yellow, he wears a yellow hat."…"OK Emma what color is Bob’s hat?"……….."GREEN!!" *SMILE* she replies….UURRRRGGGGG???? Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, is she color blind?
Thanks Proud Parent, I do tent to freak out but I’ll tell you, I’ll (we) welcome this if it is "colorblind", we will get through it, compared to having cancer, our kids in Iraq and job/home-LESS, I know when to count my blessings…it could be so much worse
Thank you all so very much, you all deserve a "best answer" in my opinion, I called her doctor and we have an appointment (I was able to speak with the doctor too, she relieved some of my fears, of course w/out saying "no she is not colorblind " :( I’m sure she’s not but we will soon find out…I’ll update if I can, & thx again so, so much, everyone!
Good news everyone, my baby girl is not colorblind!!! :) Apparently colors are of no importance to her at this time, hmmmmmm, go figure. Not even PINK! Again, thank you all, you were all so kind.

So you buy the land. Then, do you find a builder that takes care of the whole process or do you have to pay an architect, then find a company, etc? Are there companies that take care of the process A-Z? Any ideas how I can save money? I think I can do a lot of the interior work myself, but the grading, and exterior is harder. I plan to use lots of recycled materials so its cheaper, want to build it green and don’t need a very big house, a 2 bedroom + convertible office, 2 bath, 1000-1350 feet. My passion is having the garden/patio be the focal point.
Anyone can provide some input on the time it takes? A ballpark figure. I know getting plans approved takes a while.
Also, is it better to buy a home and re-model it than build one from scratch? Time-wise, money-wise, hassle-wise?

electric guitar, do you NEED an amp for it to sound good?
im learning guitar and i’m not planning on playing infront of crowds or anything but to get the electric sound do you need an amp?

We layed sod last week at two different times now some of it is not doing well at all! The last 1600sq ft. were layed on wet, muddy soil after sitting for four days and getting rained on a couple times. This last part does not look healthy and green like the previous 2400sq ft. we layed two days prior. It looks like it is dying and not standing up nicely at all. It is too hot to water it during the day so i intend to soak the heck out of it this evening and in the early morning. Is this the right thing to do? Also what other steps can i take to help it take root? (we did spread Scott’s Turf Builder over the soil before laying this last 1600sq ft.)

No help at the sears website. Craftsman 6.5 electric start, self-propelled, walk behind mower, 22" cutting. It’s about 1 years old.

Thanks in advance.

Read it and tell me if you would continue!!!?

"Not like that, Bailey. Just go into your state and try to get your wings started!" yelled Mrs. Lauget. She always yelled at me, she hated me ever since I came to Faerie Instatution. She probably thought that I was a waste of energy and patience. I tried again and then I couldn’t feel the ground. I didn’t dare look down, fearing that I would fall on my butt, again.

"Bailey you did it! Your flying!" yelled one of the others, Shelby Hiens no doubt. She was my bets friend here and I wouldn’t trust anyone else. I slightly opened my eyes and saw the grass four feet down. Flashing my eyes open, I tried to get them to move. I moved to the right and then the left.

"Yes!! I finally did it! I’ve been waiting so long!" I screamed into the air. Mrs. Lauget started to laugh and then motioned for me to come down. I completely let go of everything and then fell down on my stomach. It didn’t hurt, it was just really annoying. I stood up and brushed myself off, trying to get the mud stain out of my red t-shirt.

"Good job, Bailey. Tomorrow we’ll work on landing and projecting the works of fire into your hand" Mrs. Lauget told me and then stalked off into one of the corridors on campus. The castle was big enough to hold the whole kingdom if Princess Anastasia would let them. Princess Anastasia…. The royal pain in my butt and the ruler of Aregota. The perfetc person to rule Aregota would be Shelby. She was Anastasia’s sister and would do a much better job of protecting and ruling Aregota.

"I’m gonna go for a run. Do you want to come with me, Shelbs? I asked her. She shoock her head no and then ran to our room that was on the other side of campus. "Weird", I thought to myself.

I took off into the woods, not even caring to use my wings. I loved the wind in my hair and the smell of pine wipping against my cheeks. The pine and dog fur trees stood in front of me like 100 foot ogres ( yes they exist outside of Aregota). I stopped when I heard the strangest noise that I faerie could ever hear. Faeries could hear a lot of strange things. The cries of mermaids, The footsteps of a giant, and the flutters of another faeries wings.

I walked a little more into the forest and then turned south of the castle. I pushed aside a branch and saw a boy about my age standing in the middle of a clearing. He had black silk hair and brown chocolate eyes. His dark skin and muscles underneath made him look like a body-builder. I made a big mistake by taking one more step towards the boy. A twig snapped under my green ballet slipper and then everything smashed together.

The boy looked at me and then ran so fast all I could see was a blur. I quickly decided that I wanted to fly and then I flew up into the air. My wings started to flutter and then my outfit changed. "Great, whenever I fly, I change into a Anastasia", I thought to myself as the boy looked up at me and then had an annoyed look on his face.

"Who the hell are you?" he asked. Now I was annoyed.
"I’m the one should be asking questions since I was the one being attacked!" I screamed. He growled. "And how did you get out here? Only mystical creatures are allowed in Aregota!" I screamed again. I wanted to see if he would tell me anything that I didn’t already know.
"I am a mystical creature. Does the word werewolf come to mind" he asked in a smug tone. "If you come down, I swear I won’t hurt you" he told me again. I didn’t trust him btu for some reason I felt safer than usual.

I tried to come down slowly but then I fell on my back. It must of had a weird everytime-you-fail-you-land-on-a-body-part- sort of thing.

"Are you okay?" the boy asked me. I found myself looking into his dark brown eyes when he finally helped me up.
"Yeah, I’ve been doing that a lot today. So, why don’t you tell me your name" I said to him. He scoffed at me and then sighed.
"Cade Cooper. Newly trained Werewolf and regularly attending classes at Faerie Instatute. They have a werewolf program for kids like me. I’m 17. You?" he asked me. I didn’t know that they school had a werewolf program. But of course, no one ever told me anything.
"Bailey Jenderson. In-training faerie and living, attending, and possibly killing myself at F.I. I’m 16" I finished. He looked at me and smiled, probably at the whole killing myself thing. I looked at my watch. 9:15, curfue for faeries was 9:25. I was never going to make it back to F.I. in time.
"I’ve got to go. Duty calls me and if I don’t answer I’m going to be scheduled for laps" I started to turn away, but then I felt something hot on my hand. It was Cade.
"Let me take you. I’ have to go there for night classes anyway" he told me. Okay, I mouthed and then he ran off into the woods. Jerk, I thought and then a black wolf came into view. No Way. It motioned for me to get on it’s back. I hesitently got on and then we were off. The wind was on me like paper and glue. It only took about five minutes to see the castle but it took two minutes to try and fi

What is wrong with my St. Augustine yard?

I just moved into a home this past march. I am a first time homeowner so I need some help. My backyard has become increasingly yellow and brown in large parts of my yard. THe patterns are irregular, so I don’t think it is brown patch. I did the cinch bug test, no cinch bugs floated up. I thought it may be lack of nitrogen, but it seems to have gotten worse since I applied Scotts turf builder. The yard gets a good amount of shade, and I noticed when I water that it stays wet for quite some time. The grass comes out easily, but the runners underneath are still green. I may have overwatered which may have led to whatever problem I have. Any ideas?

Since opening with only 10 rooms we have used a #6 electric wire but now have over 30 rooms so should I use a #2 wire now?

I have an ESP EX 260 electric guitar. It has a agathis body and all I hear about on the internet is how awful it sounds. Personally I love my guitar and I think it sounds amazing. So is it true that the type of wood doesn’t really matter or am I an idiot?
