Why is my central air not cooling my house?

Well, my central air which I’ve had for about seven years just isn’t cooling my house anymore. By that I mean, air is flowing out of the registers well enough, but the air coming out feels like room temperature. It’s very hot in my house right now.
Do you have to buy some sort of chemical every few years? I’ve never done that and owned it for about seven years. Thanks in advance!

You shouldn’t have to buy anything. Look at your cooling unit which should be located outside and check and see if it is operational. After that, call an HVAC repairman.
Call an HVAC company.
Numerous things could go wrong with a seven year old system. Most of it you are unable to fix, or even buy the parts to fix.
The outside condensor may not be coming on. And without it, you wont get cold air. I can only guess as to why it wouldnt be coming on if thats the case. And if its 7 years old, I may actually hit the nail on the head. Im gonna guess bad run capacitor. I say that because you’ve never had it serviced in 7 years, and dirty condensor coils can definately cause the capacitor to swell up and burst. Anyway good luck whatever the case may be.
Go outside and take a look at the fan/condenser. You should be able to see 2 brass pipes (one thin, one thick) connected to the fan/condenser. If you find ice on one of the pipes, then your AC need more freon. If the fan on the condenser isn’t turning, then you might need new fuses. Depending on your location, you might need to call a HVAC if you need freon; many states don’t allow the sales of freon without a proper license. You can find fuses at Home Depot. Make sure all breakers were set to off before you remove/install fuses or you could get electrocuted.
My guess: Needs more freon/coolant.
Addition:
If the unit outside is running and you couldn’t find ice on those brass pipes, then you have to check the air handler (usually by the furnace inside your garage). Open the cover, and check for water. If you found water, then the drain pipe is blocked. You can take a hose and blow air into the drain pipe to clear the block. If that didn’t work, you will need to use an air compressor to blow air into the drain pipe.
