The Taylor 110-E is a Big Baby with electronics. More like $650.00 though… http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Taylor-110E-Dreadnought-AcousticElectric-Guitar?sku=514895
If you really can’t go over $500.00… you could do very well looking at Seagull, Ibanez or Fender, but you probably wouldn’t end up with something that sounds quite as good as the Taylor unplugged. The Taylor does lack any preamp controls. You might be better off with something else if you play mostly plugged in.
Well it really depends on what quality you would like!!! Maton are always a beutiful guitar to play, but at 500 you could pick up a nice ibanez….
Turner, Tanglewood and Washburn make excellent guitars for under 500 dollars similar to the Taylor big baby. There is always the safe option of an Ibanez aswell though.
