Adding an additional power source to your home or even replacing a traditional gas or electric system with solar panels or wind turbines is an alternative for many homeowners today.
Installing Solar or Wind power units for your home can not only help save you dollars on your heating and electric bills, but help save the planet. As more and more people use greener solutions for energy production in the household, it is creating a more sustainable ecology for the world.
One of the options that many people are looking into is building your own windmill or wind power system. The DIY or do it yourself models have been big sellers and are quite popular, as they provide the means to getting your own home wind power but also can save on the cost significantly as well.
The range of the cost varies greatly and can be anywhere from several hundred dollars to over $20,000 for a particular system, depending on your needs.
It all depends on how much energy you are using and where your home is and the environment of your area in particular. In a very urban and crowded area it will not be as effective as it would in a rural and more open environment as the city and urban areas tend to limit the amount of energy that can be created by such windmill units.
Very rarely, if ever, do these home wind turbines generate enough power to eliminate the need for gas and oil, but they can reduce your bills and also lower your carbon footprint significantly, which is important to many as well as saving money.

I think so. By installing a solar panel, you are reducing the need for the government to lay down wiring and upkeep and regulation of power facilities and dependence on foreign oil are all reduced. Maybe they should give you a tax break or some sort of rebate. They give incentives and deductions for getting married, buying a home, and having children, why not encourage something that reduces the strains on the environment for a change.
I am not trying to bash marriage or having kids, but I think it is personal responsibility to take care of these people, if you need a deduction to provide for a person, even if it is small refund, then maybe you should hold off on certain decisions for a little while.
yes
WHY should they?
The majority that could AFFORD to make THAT type of transition already HAVE lots of money.
A FULL solar ONLY system is expensive.
I think so. I think the cost of installing solar panel, however, prohibits most people from installing. I think the best idea would be for banks to offer interest-free loans to those who want to install solar panels. It would be a good publicity stunt for banks to do, I think.
NO. I don’t think the government should be giving money away.
I didn’t like it when Bush gave everyone $500.
I didn’t like it when Obama gave us money.
I didn’t like it when Bush gave tax cuts to the rich.
I don’t think Obama should give tax cuts to the middle class.
I don’t like it when people think that banks should be giving anything away for free.
If banks acted irresponsibly, i’m not against them paying for it.
But I do think that there was a real crisis, and the banks did need to be saved. (my grandfather lost his house and life savings in the 1929 stock market crash, and ensuing bank failures. we really don’t want to repeat that.)
I do think that we should all have affordable health care. That’s not the same.
I do think that rebates for energy efficiency is appropriate.
I do think that education should be available to everyone, whether they can afford it or not.
I do think that justice should be available to everyone, whether they can afford it or not.
I do think that this generation has inherited much from our ancestors, who intended it to be available for our descendants as well, and we’re squandering that inheritance. That’s stealing, both from our children and grandchildren, and from our ancestors. And it’s immoral.
What for? If you can afford the system you already have plenty of money and now you aren’t paying a monthly electric bill. The only way I could see them getting money would be to sell excess electricity back to electric companies.
Not a big fan of it BUT seeing as how when a coal, hydro, nuclear or any other power plant is built government on both the local and national level give money or provide tax breaks to subsidize the cost. I believe that if you took this normally huge amount of money and divided it by the power that would be produced from the solar panels or wind turbines we would not have any change from the current system and perhaps a few less power plants.
