There are limitations to wind energy generation, however. If there is a large energy grid, wind power can add to the total, but it can&#039;t be used as the sole generating system, because if the wind drops, you have no power. 
In the State of Hawaii, wind generation has been utilized, but must have a backup generator system, so there is no economic saving in the installation of wind generation systems, as the fuel-powered backup system must also be installed at the same time, but there is a saving in fuel as the fuel-powered generator is turned off when the wind is stong enough to run the wind turbines.</description>
