Generating electric via Solar?

Would like to consider going solar for my home but ideally I don’t like the large ugly panels that I’ve seen. Is their newer technology for solar for residential homes?

Solar panes will blend well with your architecture if they are considered when the house is designed. If the broad side of the roof is on the south side at the proper angle they don’t look so obtrusive. When they are mounted on stilts at an odd angle to the roof they look silly.
After you installed them and find out what they are doing for you………….You’ll find them beautiful.
And NO the only way is with flat panels..

There is a company in Michigan that makes photo voltaic roofing shingles. A team of chemical engineers at University of Toronto is looking into paint on solar cells, but it hasn’t been commercialized yet. The shingles are your best bet if you don’t like the look, but I don’t think they are nearly as efficient as monocrystalline solar cells.
You’ll need to spend a fortune. You’ll need to cover your house with panels just to run a water heater. Then you’ll have to maintain the system which costs. It’s a lot cheaper and a lot more practical to just pay for the energy. Solar energy doesn’t work. That’s why everyone and every place doesn’t convert.

The idea of getting free electricity must be as old as electricity itself.
When I bought my house I thought about all this and looked at it from all angles, only to find out that the investment would be too high and didn’t even finish my calculations with the thought ending that one severe hailstorm could destroy these expensive solar panels and then what?
The cost for a system that generates enough electricity has been priced by experts for at least $20.000 to $40.000.
My electric bill fluctuates seasonally from 60 to slightly over 100 Dollars.
So I took $20.000 and placed it in a CD at my bank and the interest coming out of this pays for my electric bills from now on.
Sure, some may argue that they don’t have that kind of money. Well if this is the case, then why even think about solar electric panels if you cannot pay for them in the first place.
