Electric generation questions.?
I mostly just tinker around with electronics and setting up very basic systems around the house. Now I wish to take things an extra step further, I don’t care if I make a practical item with my first few go a round’s but a start is what I’m looking for and I am hoping to reach a collective level of assistance to get me to where I wish to be.
So here is the questions. Where can I purchase an electric generator that I can use some sort of an input and output for. For example, I set up a couple of sails to build a wind powered generator. Where would be a good place to get those kind of generators, how much do they cost, other info?
Where would be a good place to get the stuff that I need to add a battery?
How would I get the electricity to be useful?
Any help or other random info would be helpful. For this is my first foray into electric production instead of using electricity to power something.

Any DC motor(except a "brushless") can be used as a generator.
A car alternator is a good, cheap thing to use.
To get the electricity so you can use it, like for 120V AC appliances, an inverter is needed. There’s lots of these that run off of 12V systems, like for plugging into a car cigarette lighter. Just run a 12VDC generator into one of these inverters and you’re done.
