Why do we have wind pressure systems?

is it better to use radiant barrier or insulation on a garage door in hot weather?
Did you put the insulation on the door and the the radiant barrier on the top of the insulation?
If the radiant barrier works best with direct sunlight then how does it work in the attic. I thought it was reflecting heat that wasn’t visible?

In winter it is nice and hot but in summer it is too hot. Can a thermostat be added later?
wolf2croft…please edit your answer, I can’t understand it, but it looks promising.

The product looked like a person and it had green foam protecting the body and the lights would turn red telling you where to punch. It was on a lot of infomercials in the mid to late 1990′s.

How is wind energy used today?

It doesn’t use gas, costs ,000 for the car, ,000 for the minivan, has a 70 pound aluminum compressed air engine, goes 68 mph, has a 129 mile range, and cost less than .00 to charge the carbon fiber air tanks up to 4300(?) psi. You can get a pv panel to charge it up in the parking lot if it is sunny.

I need to understand the different CO2 quantities by mass produced through pyrolysis? MSW, Animal residues, biomass from agriculture, switchgrass as an energy crop, forest residues and finally used tires….

Wind generation infrastructure will reduce the amount of oil used to generate electricity and the carbon emission. And since we all agree that it is a supply and demand thing the supply will increase over time thereby drive down the price of oil or at least keep it steady depending on how much of our domestic electric production we can shift to from oil fuel generation. There is no limit to the amount of wind generated electricity we can produce since wind is 24/7 in some places unlike solar and is a fraction of the cost to build and maintain. New materials technology is also making it more feasible for wind generation to compete with oil generated electricity.

Yeah yeah I know there are people that say it can be done but we all know the world is not flat.
Private industry needs good leadership. If we are going to leave everything to private industry then why bother to have NIH to research health why not just let the pharmaceutical companies do it? If leave it up to the oil companies that get their oil free from government land when do you think they will actually get around to doing anything?
Johnny 2 times check this out. We need the imagination and leadership we had when we a put a man on the moon. We are Americans we need to believe in our selves.

A nobody

I knew there would be at least one flat worlder. At 300 feet above the surface there is enough wind on any day to power every city on the planet 10 over including all the transportation.

What is your dream home?

I picture having a large house with a wind turbine in the yard to power it and having a small vegetable and fruit garden and eating and selling the fruits. Then having aprivate property underground for a game room and stuff.

And you?

Our experiment is to convert heat energy obtained by burning bio mass to electric energy. In real life this is done by spinning steam turbines which induces an electric current by electromagnetism. In a high school lab there is no steam turbine, so are there any alternatives I can take?

The Weston Oaks HOA (Homeowner’s Association) in Cary, NC is objecting the upscaled landscaping done to the front-yard.

The whole project started as a result of us having a dull, dead lawn due to the positioning of the lot. Yes, the summers are hot and not everyone’s grass looks good during peak heat seasons, but ours seemed to be exceptionally bad because of the downward slope of the yard.

Our original project involved removing about 2-3 foot off grass directly on the front yard closest to the street with a mulch bed and installing plants/shrubs about 2-3 foot from the street level in order to provide shade to the remaining grass behind the plants/shrubs. We met with the former board and the former president of the board recommended we put the grass back in and reduce the plants/shrub beds by 50%. So we spent money again to have the project redone as we were in agreement with the suggestions made. A diagram of the revised plan along with a letter was faxed to the HOA in April. We received acknowledgment of the fax.

Their current letter now states there is a concern about the type of plants that were installed. However, that issue has not been brought up in the past letters nor in our meeting with the prior board. It is stated that palm trees does not match the plant material installed at all other homes. We are beginning to feel personally targeted at this point. Small windmill palm plants/trees are found in premier neighborhoods in this area. We have always had them in every neighborhood we have lived in. The town of Cary does not mandate the type of trees that can be installed. Infact, there is other homes in the neighborhood that has palm plants as well.

When you have neighborhood that ranges from 0-0K, you are bound to see variations in each home. Most homeowners take great pride in their lawn and work hard to have a lawn that they are proud of. There are variations in our neighborhood, and many are not duplicated. If one were to argue that a particular item did not match the other homes in the community, then there are tons of plants, rock types, flower beds, retainer walls that would become an issue. We have had tons of compliments from neighbors regarding our lawn.

We take great pride in our lawn and to date have spent a lot of money on it. There are lawns in the neighborhood that consist entirely of variation of weeds that are just mowed down. Our goal was and has been to have grass that is provided with some shade so that it remains presentable. There are only 4 beds in the front lawn facing the street and the trees are to be maintained at their current height and will be trimmed throughout the year. It is only for the purpose of providing shade to the grass in front and behind them.

I do not want to make any additional changes as it will leave me with a bare front-yeard. What do I need to do to convince them and stop them from raising concerns?

Besides thermal and electrical energy, what can solar energy be converted into? Please post your reference if you have one.

Alternative Energy Questions?

Lately I’ve been designing, installing and implementing my own solar project. This project is being built so that more panels can be added on in the future. My question is, now that I’m beginning to harness the suns energy, what other ways can I effectively create green power at home? I’m using solar currently, wind isn’t applicable in my location. I’ve run out of ideas. Please HELP! I need cost effective ways to power environmentally! Any ideas???

Especially during the winter, I hear energy bills go up in the winter but we want to keep them as low as possible during the entire year through all 4 seasons!
