For a school project (AP environmental), we have to design and construct a model of a "green"/energy-efficient house. we need 60 (yes, sixty!) eco-friendly/green/energy-efficient components in the house.
ANY IDEAS??? thank you lots!! :D
so far i have:
-adobe walls (control temp, cheap, eco-friendly)
-solar panels
-rainwater collection
-greywater recycling
-rain garden
-xeriscaping

How can you make a "green" home in Kansas?

I’ve been watching a lot of shows about "green" houses (Renovation Nation, World’s Greenest Homes, etc) and it occurred to me that if and when my boyfriend decide to build a house, I’d love to make it as eco friendly as possible. I love the idea of lots of windows as ways to let in natural light as well as to keep a good airflow within the house. Unfortunately, with Kansas springs and summers, there are awful storms (high winds, hail) that could potentially damage many windows, and leaving them open would only invite insects of all sorts inside. So, how would you create a green home in Kansas that would maximize the natural elements (i.e. SUNLIGHT is huge) while minimizing potential damage?

i was looking into making solar panels to reduce my electric bill, but i need to know how to actually hook it up.

In my laudry room, threr’s exposed pink insulation. There is the furnace and other machine in that room as well. When I put on the air conditioning, some cold air comes out of a hole through that machines (with a force of air that will come out of a fan that is on 2nd speed). Is the blowing air enough to disturb the firbes in the fibreglass insulation?

If I keep my laundry clothes in that room, will the fibres be disturbed and settle on my clothes?

I am searching for an electric air-soft gun. Any reccomendations, tips, pointers, ect.

with all home made stuff or both?

I was interested in buying a home in another state, but wanted to know the condition of the home before going any further in buying the home. Can I call the broker or realtor and ask what the condition of the home is, such as, plumbing, electric, mold, etc.. Is this illegal?

I was psyched to have a green, full lawn. I went to the home depot and got Turf Builder, Seed and starter fertilizer.

I put turf builder on the lawn and then added seed and fertilizer. I learned I messed up… a lot.

First I noticed my grass did not grow. Not even a blade. I then began seeing that the grass I did have, turned pale and sickly looking.

After about a week (maybe a week 1/2) – I raked the lawn and placed EZ Seed (Scotts) – which worked well last year. Nothing after a week. Not a blade. It looks also as if even more grass has turned pale.

I have given up on a thick, green lawn. Now I just want grass so it does not look hideous.

What do I do?

I was told that even sod will die because of the turf.

HELP! I’ll try anything.

I’ve read some of the articles in scientific journals citing huge death tolls from birds flying into wind turbine blades on a daily basis. (And several joggers in my city report being "grossed out" by the number of bird carcasses that litter the running path located near the mayor’s favorite "green power generation" project.) But I’ve never seen any estimated tolls for the entire U.S. and how the death toll would average out for the megawatts generated.

Thanks for the excellent informative responses!

(Nobody answered the question posed — which is actually very common on Yahoo Answers — but a lot of helpful information was posted nonetheless on related issues.)

Help Please

I have a landlord here in Florida that rented me a 4 bedroom 4 bath beach home with utilities included, with a year lease.

Problem that landlord was running the utilities illegal and was caught. Well my power was turned off along with my water. I had to go rent a hotel for 5 day’s until he fixed the issue. cost ,000 or more.

well the guy is giving me a hard time now ,i’m trying to get him to return my hotel cost. He is now forcing me to pay the utilities even though the lease states other wise…What grounds what I have to file a lawsuit and any good links to free Florida rental laws website would receive a 5 star* rating.

Thanks
