I have gotten a lot of good information on smaller systems, but I think I am in need of something just a bit larger. I realize that costs for copper, steel, etc. are constantly changing. But if someone could give me a ballpark answer that would be great.

Many smaller systems quote prices right on their site, but it doesn’t seem to be the case with the mid size models.

ok, so the approaching winter is coming, and it has already reached 40 degrees, i’ve decided to turn on my electric heater, but im a college student and im trying to keep things at a minimum, i dont have a job so im just trying to get an idea of how much its going to cost me a month for heating.

i have a one bedroom house: the living room is 15′x14′, the bathroom is 5’8"x8′, the kitchen is 6′x12′, and the bedroom is 11’5"x9′. there is one electric heater in each of the rooms, they are placed at the base of the walls and are long, the ones in the living room and bedroom are bigger then the others, the bathroom heater is the smallest with the kitchen heater only being a few inches longer. i hope that i have provided enough information for good answers, please respond, it will be greatly appreciated.

real answers only please!!

I have been doing some research on solar panel and wind turbine systems. The pricing is crazy. For a 10Kw solar grid tie kit system is between ,000 and ,000. If you install batteries add ,000-,000. 10Kw will only power a small to medium home without electric heat. Using my electric usage and info from my local electric company payback is 60 years for solar and 361 years for wind. This is unexceptionable. The manufactures of the solar and wind are gouging the consumers. They are using the excuse of supply and demand for the high cost. When demand goes up so will mass production and the price will go down. This is true, but they are making a huge profit on what they are making now. Some items are in the 3000% markup range. Are the power companies keeping the price up so their profits don’t suffer? My local electric supplier has an "ENERGY PARK" that you can go see solar and wind power in action and check out real time data online. They have a 4Kw solar array installed and claim it cost ,378 installed and a 2.5Kw wind turbine that cost about ,000 installed. I think they are giving false numbers to consumers so you won’t go green. I was able to find a 3.5Kw kit online for ,000. This doesn’t include any type of mounting materials. You can add 0-,200 for these materials. An installer will will charge you ,000-,000 to install it. For the sake of argument lets say this will cost you ,000 to install but still way out of line for you and me to install. That is a far cry from the ,000 the power company claims. The power companies don’t want you to make your own electric. They are keeping the cost high so they will still make money off you. A 210w panel sells for around 0. They probably manufacture it for under . The cost needs to be 0-0 to the consumer to make it affordable to the average home owner. 50 210w panels make a 10Kw system. That would be ,000 not ,000. The manufactures are raping us and the power companies are helping them to keep prices high. When will we get the technology at a proper cost? Let me know what you think.
In response to the first 5 answers, Yes, if demand increases so will mass production and thus supply will increase and this will drive the price down. I looked into panels from China. From what I was able to find panels sell for {content}.17-{content}.45 per watt. In the U.S. they sell for .00-.00 per watt. Manufactures in the U.S. have lobbied for a higher tariff on solar products that makes them impractical to import on mass. These companies want to keep the price high so their profits stay high, and the power companies do not want you to produce all your own power. That would put them out of business.
In response to Steve R, You need to do more research before you post another retarded comment like that. Air "DOES" have mass (just not very dense). When air is in motion it is called "WIND". This motion creates energy. Have you ever heard of a "tornado"? Get your facts together next time.

I notice that wind or air going in our house through the top of the front door. It has insulation except the top portion. What do you call the insulation for doors and windows because i tried searching for it in home depot site and lowes but i can’t find it and what they give me is the insulation for attic and basements. Can anyone give me some tips i really want to save energy.

At the moment i am on holiday in the USA and i am due to leave next saturady. I have just found out i have lost my green card and i don’t know what to do to be able to get home. please help asap

i need to pick a program for college, and i want to do engineering. there isn’t a college that i can find that deals with alternative energy as a major, so i was wondering what major would be in a similar area. right now i’m thinking manufacturing engineering, but i dont know.

How can you make an electric generator?

I own 5 acres of property. Other then my gas generator, I don’t have electricity on it. I have a travel trailer on it with an electric fridge and I love camping there. In Home Depot, I have seen a converter that you hook up to your car battery and I have also seen what appears to be an electric generator. I asked someone at Home Depot how long the "electric generator" would run a small fridge. He told me it wouldn’t be a long time, but suggested using a marine battery with a converer. I am thinking I could purchase several batteries, a converter and a battery charger. Does that sound like somethink that might work?
I do have a 5000 watt gas generator on my property. I just don’t want to have to run it all the time if I am camping for several days or a week at a time. We all know the prices of gas these days.

I need to find the location for the thermostat on the engine?

Not: Why shouldnt oil companies be able to write off drilling expenses? I get to write off my business expenses.

I’m a carpenter, and can do electric work. I want to make some money installing Solar Panels. what’s the best source?

project in class that i need to sell petroleum and tell why it is better than wind energy or any other type of energy
